Note. Competition weights and body-fat numbers are estimates inside his reported ranges. The verdict is not an estimate — it rests on a doping disqualification he did not contest. See the methodology page for how we judge.

Mariusz Pudzianowski won World’s Strongest Man five times: 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008. Nobody has won it more.

In between, he finished third at the 2004 event and was disqualified for breaching the governing body’s Strongman Health Policy. He did not dispute the banned-substance violation, waived his right to have his sample verified, and lost the prize money, his points, and a year of competition.

Confirmed.

The numbers

He competed in strongman at 269 to 320 lbs (122-145 kg) at 6’1” (185 cm), and later fought MMA at 265-267 lbs (120-121 kg). At that height, that mass puts his FFMI far past the drug-free ceiling our methodology page cites, even before the test result.

He was also, visibly, the leanest man in the field for most of his career — the one strongman who looked like a bodybuilder. That is what made him famous and it is also what made the 2004 result unsurprising.

Verdict

Confirmed — a doping disqualification, uncontested, with prize money returned and a year’s ban served. Five titles stand around it.
